Description
In the summer of 2013 Mika Snickars & Daniel Savio got booked for a back to back DJ gig at a Copenhagen Music Festival. After some time of planning they decided to do a set of strictly Swedish grooves (unheard of at the moment) as a reaction to the contemporary trend of DJ’s going bananas for exotic music - Svenska Disco Kyrkan was born.
After that decision they discovered that the music in Sweden was hiding in plain sight and it was enough material for them to do regular club nights & start working on edits and compilations.
First out - “Borta På Vinden” is a collection of 10 raw & funky 70’s feeling disco spins for the floor. Carefully selected from the vast & ever growing collection of Swedish Music.
Tracklist:
B.L. Magnell “Ett Sagoland”
Psych Disco on a label with no other funk related releases. It’s a magic track for the barefoot dancers.
Borta På Vinden “Mina Nya Disco-jeans (Svenska Disco Kyrkan Edit)”
Originally recorded as a protest song against disco, by editing out the chorus it became a disco beast!
Janne Svensson “Min TV - Min TV”
A song about screen obsessiveness backed by a b-boyish beat in a pub rock style.
Image “Universum”
Mind expanding youth center fusion with proto house piano and spaced out breaks.
Mixture “Use your soul”
A solid groove with smooth rhodes to make you smile.
Lupus “Mama Funk”
Rocking funk from Västerås, a party track with a concíous message.
Robert Widén “Några Krav”
Cool vibes for the decadent. Driving guitar with tropical rhythm.
Nebulosa “Mittpelarna”
Underground bass driven disco instrumental - A subwayfunk theme.
Basab Brothers Band “Funcab”
Doing the hustle in Lessebo, tiny village in rural Sweden back in 1982 sounds like a uplifting and mellow affair at the same time.
Hagiwara “Nya Låten”
Swedish summer atmosfear. Instrumental, breezy, lazy blue with a solid beat.
